Meet EA Sports NHL 13 new cover boy Claude Giroux

We have a winner! Flyers fans came through when the team could not. Well not exactly but you see my point, earlier tonight EA Sports announced that Claude Giroux would be on the cover NHL 13. Now all would we like in return is a Stanley Cup championship please. I believe thats fair, if you don’t I don’t care make it happen!!

Brian Dawkins a Eagle for life

Today Brian Dawkins signed his one day contract and cemented his 13 year legacy in an Eagles uniform. His number 20 will be retired on September 30th which is certain to be an emotional night when the Eagles play the Giants on national TV for Sunday night football.  The Nova Care Complex was filled with media, family, friends, and numerous past and present Eagles who came to pay their respects to the Eagle great. Within all the formal talk and photos of the day there was one small moment that enabled everybody to truly understand what Brian Dawkins is all about. The Eagles presented a tribute video of his time in the city of Philadelphia and how he defined the defense in his era. Simply, a video which spotlights one of the greatest players to put on a NFL uniform, a type of player we may never see again in our lifetime.

Asante throws duces to Philly, heading to the ATL

Its official Asante Samuel is going from one bird to another, leaving the Eagles nest to become a Falcon. Atlanta was able to restructure his contract which is now reportedly worth 18.5 million over three years. He will join a very good CB tandem of Duanta Robinson and Shippensburg’s Brent Grimes (local shout out). The Eagles in return got a sixth round pick (not official) and they got, well nothing else! It appears Andy sat there while Atlanta dropped the “dirty bird” on his face.

However, the Eagles are left with two solid CB’s themselves in Asomugha and Rogers-Cromartie. They will have to sure up the position with depth either by way of the draft or free agency. I know don’t laugh to hard ”the draft” I know. Past drafts tell us the Birds are probably going heavy early, OL/DL like they always do then they will remember our LB’s suck and fill that. So unless you like seventh round corners don’t count on the draft. As for free agents- are you out there, anywhere, anywhere at all? If you are call the Eagles front office they might have screwed themselves.

Eagles 2012 Schedule Released, Will the outcome be different from last year?

The Eagles 2012 schedule has been released and fans around the city are voicing their opinions on each weeks matchups and the overall final outcome of the season. I just wanted to take a quick look at each week and make a (pre-draft) prediction. I know the typical Eagles fan has forgotten about the train wreck of last year and how pissed they were at the entire organization. They now have taken the jersey out of closet, put up a personal countdown to week one, and priced tickets to New Orleans for February. Just a courteous wake up call, nothing has changed since last year what do you really expect to happen?

Week 1- @ Cleveland   Win, last time I checked Colt McCoy didn’t even know what team he played for. A concussion will do that to you.

Week 2- vs. Baltimore Loss, still don’t know if Ray Rice will hold for a new contract, if he does and misses time in camp this may be a win. Flacco will be Flacco and their defense will get real close to Mr. Vick. Also, first test for Jason Peter’s replacement

Week 3- @ Arizona  Win, The Eagles would like thank their former 2nd round pick Kevin Kolb for the win, Eagles better hope he’s on the field!

Week 4- vs. NYG Win, They’re the super bowl champs they don’t give a crap about this year, especially not this early.

Week 5- @ Pittsburgh Loss, Coming off an emotional win last week the Eagles will fall flat on their face this week. Also in this game Mike Vick will probably get hurt and James Harrison will receive his first fine of the season

Week 6- vs. Detroit Loss, Detroit is a playoff team that should be very good in 2012. The main reason for a loss this week is that Calvin Johnson will destroy (4TD’s) the Eagles princes CB’s, it will be hard stop Megatron when you can’t tackle him. Side note- If Johnson wins the Madden Cover vote this game turns into a WIN and curse lives on!

 Week 7- Bye week

Week 8- vs. Atlanta Win, not much to say here you should know why this is a win. The Eagles are undefeated coming out of a bye week with Reid and this year is no exception. Birds win by two TD’s

Week 9- @ New Orleans Loss, I say this with hesitation just because the Saints are going to be a yearlong circus. They don’t have their head coach, Big Brother (NFL) will be on their ass all year, and oh yea as of now they have not signed their star quarterback. Somehow some way New Orleans finds a way to win. Honestly, I see another fourth quarter collapse from the Birds.

Week 10- vs. Dallas Win, Tony Romo is done; at this point he would have better success playing professional golf. The Cowboys are going to finish last in the division and Jerry Jones is going to clean house.

Week 11 @ Washington Win, I flipped a coin for this game, no seriously I did. Their defense is good and RGIII and the skins Offense will be much improved. The Eagles will sneak a win out in DC by three.

Week 12 vs. Carolina Loss, The good news is that the Eagles got a preview of Cam Newton last week in RGIII. The problem is that RGIII is not Cam Newton at least not yet.

Week 13 @Dallas Loss, although Dallas will suck it is very difficult to beat a team twice in the year especially a divisional opponent in a three week timespan.

Week 14 @ Tampa Bay Win, TB is a mid-level team that went shopping this off season. Not only did they go FA shopping they made it rain cash. Will they make the playoffs, maybe but the Birds got this game. More importantly enjoy the nice weather.

Week 15 vs. Cincinnati Win, with two divisional games to end the season the Eagles need to win this game to stay in the postseason hunt. They cannot afford to lose this game; it’s scary to think that the season could come down to the Bengals.

Week 16 vs. Washington Loss,   Eagles lay an egg and lose to the Skins. RGIII will most likely have a good game and rage among fans for Andy’s job comes alive.

Week 17 @ NYG Win, Desperate times call for desperate measures at least for the Eagles. The Giants will have locked the division up and their playoff spot. The Eagles take care of business; get the win and a wild card spot.

I have the Eagles finishing the season at 9-7, just another typical year under Andy. They will shock the fans with some surprise wins as well as drive them crazy with crap loses.  The postseason will consist of a first round wild card loss and to top it all off Andy will keep his job.

Phillies fans are jumping off the wagon, already!

The Phillies early season struggles have set in motion numerous negative outbursts among the fan base. So called true fans are dropping off the bandwagon on a pace that has not been seen before.  Here is a top ten of some remarks you could hear from the so called fair weather fans if the Phils continue to struggle.

1.“Does anyone know when 2013 spring training starts because this season is done?”

2.“Trade them all, yea I mean everybody it can’t get worse. We can’t hit and can’t pitch, I don’t want to say I told you so but I saw this coming since the offseason.”

3.“What the hell, when I bought my season tickets they didn’t tell me they suck this year. What is their refund policy?”

4. “Thank god Xfinity live is open why else would I come to the park for a Phillies game. “

5.“Let’s go Flyers!”

6.“Do what you want with Cole Hamels, sign him or trade him it won’t make a difference we suck.”

7.“Dude if you buy my ticket plan from me when I get my playoff tickets I will give you the first game for free.” (Internal thought- Idiot they aren’t making the playoffs)

8.“At this pace Chooch will be our leadoff hitter in two weeks and we will be in the bottom three in all team hitting statistics.”

9.“Consecutive sellout streak is over, nobody wants to come and see losers.”

10.“Charlie can manage the first eight innings then they should have a drawing so see who wins Manage the Phils in the 9th contest.”

Please keep in mind at no point were any of these statements actually heard. They are just a collection of thoughts to reflect how drastically negative some fans have been through the first week of the season. I understand that it is not the ideal start but it is a long season, check back in September Phaithful!

NFL released New Nike Uniforms for 2012 season, or did they?

The day finally came for the NFL to let the sporting world get their first look at the new Nike NFL uniforms. The unveiling took place in NYC in a very dramatic presentation with lasers, smoke screens and real NFL superstars in their uniforms. Now the only problem was everyone’s buzz was immediately killed once they determined that most teams uni’s look almost the same (besides the new Seattle lightbrite jersey). If that’s all that Nike can come up with I want to officially apply to be the new Nike design team leader. I will have you know that I received a B+ in elementary school art class so you can take your opinion and shove it!

Some quick notes- the Bloomberg Buisnessweek is reporting that the agreement between the NFL and Nike is worth $35 million dollars annually. Also, Nike will reap about $500 million dollars this year on the sale of NFL merchandise because retailers allowed their Reebok inventory to wane in anticipation of the company switch.  Lastly, and keep in mind this is just my opinion but why the hell is best part of the uniforms the dam gloves, those things are NICE!

If this was a playoff series preview, Oh boy!!!!!!!!

Forget the game it was all about the last minute of play. If you missed the last minute of today’s Flyers Penguins game you missed an “old school hockey” good time. After the full team brawl was settled at Peter Laviolette came down from his full rage cameras found Scott Hartnell interacting with the lovely fans of Pittsburgh. In the main event a fan who was channeling his inner Hulk Hogan was trying to give the smackdown to Hartnell as he was displaying his own vintage Hogan moves himself. All was resolved before any DDT’s or piledrivers could be given and the match, I mean game continued. I know in the playoffs teams usually play “nice” hockey, but for some reason I think we’re going to get a new breed of postseason hockey in this series, can’t wait!

Ok, let’s have some fun with this.  In a reply give us your best caption for the Hartnell vs.  Old Pitt Hulk pic.

-What are you gonna do when Hartnellmania runs wild on you-
